Curtis Fielding has proudly SOLD & SETTLED the 1993 Fairway 36 Flybridge, Sea Harrier.
Providing her current owners with many years of enjoyable cruising around the Gold Coast and up and down the Queensland Coast, this semi-displacement cruiser is a great example of the very popular Australian built, Fairway 36 Flybridge range.
Since being launched in 1993, this vessel has received significant upgrades. Of these, more recent improvements include:
– To assist with manoeuvring, Side Power bow and stern thrusters have been fitted.
– The more modern Fairway galley was installed by Fairway Marine, this includes a corian counter top, teak cabinetry, a round stainless steel sink, Smev cooktop and a Panasonic microwave oven.
– An extended swim platform with stainless steel rails was installed by Fairway Marine
– A black water tank has been installed (fitted with a 3 way valve)
– Osmosis hull treatment completed in 2023 (report and invoices available on request) including hull peeling, drying, new laminate, and all new antifouling system applied.
– All skins fitting and valves replaced during the 2023 slipping.
Like the majority of the Fairways’ built, this vessel is powered by an economical and reliable 240hp Perkins. She carries 600 litres of diesel and 470 litres of water and her average consumption is a very reasonable 15-20 litres per hour. Servicing of the main engine and Seawasp generator has been carried out by the local Perkins mechanic.
Stepping onboard the swim platform and through the transom door, you’ll find a spacious cockpit which has an extended awning and side curtains, providing all-weather use. As mentioned earlier, the swim platform is deeper than the original version and is fitted with stainless steel rails. These are great for assisting when stepping in and out of the dinghy, cooking the BBQ, mounting a bait board or stowing the rods when fishing. There is also a retractable swim ladder mounted under the platform and a deck shower on the transom to rinse off after taking a dip. Inside the cockpit you’ll find large fridge and freezer unit, carpeting (with non-skid decking underneath), access to the lazarette (via a large hatch), as well as ample storage for lines, outboard fuel, etc in lockers with upgraded 2-pack painted cupboard doors.
The saloon and cockpit flow seamlessly and are divided by a large sliding glass door. There is a screen fitted to the door to keep out any unwanted pests when you’re anchored on a still evening. Practical carpeting is laid throughout the vessel, perfect for not having to worry about damp, sandy feet and the deep blue colour hides any accidental spills and marks. The ‘L’ shaped settee on the port side of the saloon is low maintenance and can be easily wiped down after you’ve been out boating. This area is completed with a custom made saloon table with folding sides, ideal for a light meal or dinner with friends when extended. It also makes getting in and out of the settee much simpler.
Opposite the settee, the galley is ergonomic in design and provides an uncluttered, streamlined feel. There’s plenty of space for preparing meals, a 12v under counter-counter refrigerator, 3 burner gas cooktop and a microwave oven. Sliding saloon windows provides plenty of ventilation and great visibility whether you’re standing in the galley or seated at the settee. The saloon windows are fitted with slimline venetian blinds.
If you’re running that boat from the lower helm station, there’s a complete range of electronics, controls for the bow and stern thrusters and remote for the anchor winch (with chain counter). The Seawasp generator control panel is situated at the helm. When coming and going from a berth, there is full 360 degree visibility from the helm and electronics include a large Lowrance plotter and sounder and a modern Raymarine autopilot
Heading forward from the saloon you’ll find the traditional accommodation layout with a double berth on the port side, spacious toilet and shower to starboard and 2 berths in the bow. The is a great layout for a family but also works well for 2 couples or cruising with mates. The bathroom features a 12v toilet, sink and large shower that doesn’t make everything wet when being used. The toilet is connected to a waste tank. Four hatches in the foredeck and opening windows on either side of the cabin keeps the boat cool and comfortable during the warmer months. Storage for clothes, linen, towels, etc is provided in lockers and drawers.
On a sunny day there is nothing better than cruising up the bay and spending time on the flybridge. This vessel has an extended Bimini which provides great cover from the sun. There are also clears fitted to the front and sides to keep out the wind and rain. A davit mounted to the aft end of the flybridge deck, lifts and lowers the tender which sits neatly on a stainless steel cradle above the cockpit. The flybridge helm features all of equipment needed, right from anchoring, through to cruising and berthing at the end of your journey.
Access to the engine compartment is through two large hatches in the saloon floor. When lifted, the engine can be inspected and serviced from above and on either side. The generator is located aft of the main engine, as is the hot water system. Here you can also service the shaft seal easily. Fuel and water tanks sit either side of the engine.
Below the waterline the Fairway 36 features a full length keel which protects the rudder and propeller. In the early months of 2023 this vessel had a full hull sandblast, peel and osmosis treatment. Upon completion a new antifouling coating was applied and skin fittings were installed. This thorough and extensive process cost approximately $40,000, resulting in a new (very smooth) hull, ready for many years of cruising.
Over the years Anchorline have sold multiple Fairway’s to customers that have ventured as far south as Tasmania and Adelaide, and all the way north to Darwin. Many owners having loved their boats so much that they purchased another Fairway when buying a new vessel.
This Fairway 36 Flybridge is available for inspection at the Gold Coast by prior appointment. Please contact our office for further information.
